at the moment he is 1 year old and we have already entered him in a show in brockenhurst, a big dog show and my first one!! he was entered in the puppy dog show!! he was given a quick brush and i went in with him. he jumped up on the judge but after that calmed down straight away as the judge inspected him, and stood proud!! he ran very well, with, in the words of the judge himself (read later in dogworld newspaper) 'power and elegance.' he came second in the end to a very big well matured dog who only had that as an advantage over monty, and he is now autonatically qualified for crufts in march 2010!! i cant wait to go and am going to start ringcraft soon, i think, to get my confidence up!!
all in all his future looks good however, as a few breeders and judges were admiring him at the show, two judges entering their dogs remarked on his 'good head,' while we learned afterward that someone from the show had later contacted montys breeder (who had come to the show with us to support us!) asking him about monty!! we're very pleased with our boy!!
MONTY AT 1 YEAR!!
monty is a blue merle australian shepherd. if youve never seen one before, look them up!! he has a very friendly, lovely nature and is good with everyone, adults (although jumps up on,) kids (who he is very calm with,) dogs (although cannot tell mean from friendly dogs yet, and has been attacked, and then tried to go back and say hello after attack!!) he is cheeky and pinches our food if we're not looking, although respects a distance from our food when we are. he is loved by all those who've met him, and those who have looked after him on holidays have all said it was very enjoyable!!

this video was taken at the breeder's. monty is the pup who comes right up to the camera at the start of the clip, stepping on his brother marmites face in the process!!
ISLE OF WIGHT VISIT!!
monty met his dad, kane once again. he is now taller than kane (although has a frame) which amazed us as we all thought kane was huge to begin with!! monty is on the left in the pic.
SHOWS
crufts 2010-not much news at the moment as i havent started ringcraft yet but am planning on it!! other than that no news really
PERSONAL
well we're planning on getting another dog soon, and maybe a cat as well. if possible we're planning on a medium-to-large dog (we like bullmastiffs and american bulldogs) although we have seen a fair few terrier mixbreeds we've liked, and as long as the dog we rescue (we bought monty so we want to rescue the next, to do our bit) is fairly calm to keep monty calm, and has good recall!! we also like a breed called portuguese shepherds, of which there are no breeders in the uk and very few pets as well!! look them up if you havent heard of them, they are not like the now-famous portuguese water dogs at all, so dont mix them up :)
the cat breed we like is the maine coon. yes, you guessed it, we like big animals!! and apparently the maine coon is a very loving, placid breed that is very people-orientated, especially the calmer males, so they sound perfect for us!!

My friend's Aussie "Ochie" taught our Labrador Lila everything she knows. I think you'll enjoy the video of them together on http://dogdownunder.com/2009/10/27/two-dogs-two-toys
